  GLC: Green Sapphire

Unlike all other Green Gems, Green Sapphire, thanks to the African treasures of Tanzania and Umba, has a wide range of Green Colors. 20 to 30 years ago, Green Sapphire color was limited to the Thai and Australian Green Sapphire, usually very deep Grass Green with a light yellowish greenish tone or with a blackish dark green tone.

As it is for Blue Sapphire, the best green sapphire color depends on its vividness, too dark or a washed-out too light colors are not desirable, the best color you will recognize it when it just our at you!!!

BEST WHEN IT IS PURE GREEN

Umba mine and some other African mines produce beautiful green sapphire, mostly in mixture with other colors like blue, purple, or even yellow. The greener the sapphire is, the more beautiful it appears. Stones with no color definition or character are more common, unless they exhibit a color change phenomenon which make them more valuable.

WHERE GREEN SAPPHIRES COME FROM

Major source is Australia, Thailand and East Africa, however, Sri Lanka and Montana, U.S.A. sometimes produces Green Color Sapphires.

THE LOWEST PRICED AND UNEVALUATED COLOR IN SAPPHIRES

With the exception of the Black Sapphire, it is agreed in the Gem Trade that Green Sapphire is the lowest price color among other types of sapphires. The truth is that it is wrongly under evaluated, because Green Sapphires, especially the darker ones are common and plentiful in small sizes, even up to 2 or 3 ct. sizes, people assume that Green Sapphire is common and cheap. However, smart knowledgeable Gem dealers and collectors pay top prices for big stones and large green crystals. Green Sapphire is simply rare in large sizes, it is almost impossible to find a big, clean bright 10 CT green sapphire unless you are ready to spend a fortune.

BEAUTIFUL GREEN, HARDER AND MORE AFFORDABLE THAN EMERALDS

Because Sapphire (Corundum) is the hardest gem next to Diamond. A Green Sapphire, for certain people make a better choice than emerald because of its durability and affordable price.

Green Sapphire will mix well with other colored sapphire. Think of designing pieces of jewelry using green with other colors makes it colorful and durable that and enjoy a long life of beauty.
