GLC: London Blue Topaz
This name was introduced in the gem market since the late 1960’s by using a neutron Bombardment technique in a nuclear reactor. Neutron treatment is the only means by which labs are able to produce small calibrated topaz with deep color as well as big stones in deep color marketed under this attractive name "London Blue Topaz," a commercial name for a treated Natural White Topaz. This color is absolutely produced by treatment and does not occur in nature. London Blue Topaz has the ideal navy blue color, sometimes with a greenish tint. It is important to mention that this technique is performed only by N.R.C licensed labs in the U.S, also US importers must be licensed by N.R.C in order to be able to bring irradiated blue topaz in the country. For that reason, consumers should not be concerned about the irradiation in Blue Topaz. Treatment of Blue Topaz is permanent and stable. Gem Auction Inc. © Copyright 1997-2001, Gem Auction Inc.
